The
Vicksburg Battlefield Museum has taken on the project to
create a museum in the old Vicksburg Deport. The Vicksburg
Battlefield Museum
is a non-profit museum, dedicated to preserving Vicksburg's
rich history and heritage, with 18 years experience in
operating a major museum in the Vicksburg market.
The
City of Vicksburg and the Mississippi Department of
Transportation are in the final stages of restoration of the
Depot. We
have on hand items for displays but are in need of materials
and funds to complete the exhibits.
The
museum will be a great addition to the tourism attractions
and industry in Vicksburg, with both education and
entertainment value for all audiences. The Depot will
encourage Vicksburg visitors to stay long in downtown
Vicksburg and visit local businesses and attractions.
